3rd Indo-Nepal Friendship Taekwondo Championship & 5th ITF Training Camp held Successfully

Taekwondo ITF Nepal organized 5th ITF Training Campon 7-8 January, 2010 and 3rd Indo-Nepal Friendship Taekwondo Championship on 9 January 2010. The Training Camp was held at a tourist area-Swayambhunath, emphasizing the Sparing, Kicking Pattern and fundamental exerciseof ITF, Mr. Laxman Basnet-International instructor and referee imparted training in the camp. The camp was participated by 102 including Instructors and trainer of Nepal, India and Bangladesh. Similarly Gayaji Khadka, Ramchandra Khika Khadka, Pradip Thapa and Kusheshwar Yadav had given test for 2nd Dan.
Furthermore, in the Championship Nepal won 7 Gold, 9 Silver and 17 Bronze medal in the Indo-Nepal friendship Taekwondo Championship of Men and Women in 13 Weight Category. Likewise, India won 6 Gold, 4 Silver and 9 Bronze medals simultaneously. Preety Kaur of India won the best player of Championship, whereas, Sasman Basnet of Nepal won the best player award in the Men Category.
In the award distribution ceremony, Chief Guest Pitambar Timilsina, vice-president of National Sports Council Nepal, Mr. Laxman Basnet -President of Taekwondo ITF Nepal, Ang Temba Sherpa-Advisor of Taekwondo ITF Nepal, Sandip Kumar Surya -president of Indian Taekwondo Board & MD. Mukhtar Hussian president of Taekwondo ITF Bangladesh contributed in the medal and certificate distribution ceremony. The Championship was held at Nepal Police Health Club -Kathmandu.

2nd Inter School Competition held successfully
26 July 2009, Kathmandu, Nepal
Taekwondo ITF Nepal and Buddhajyoti Boarding School concluded Second Inter School ITF Taekwondo Championship on 24 July, 2009. Mr. Krishna Bahadur Mahara, former information and communication Minister and Mr. Ang Temba Sherpa, World Famous Model, International Flight expert and Eminent Mountaineer distributed Medal and Certificates to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winner of the competition. Addressing the program Mr. Mahara underlined on the youths role in the development of Nation and such competitions advances confidence making them disciplined.
In the competition there were 86 competitors from 6 schools across the Valley and Kavre District while the competitor fought for 13 Gold Medals (10 medals in individual sparing, 3 medals in Color Belt pattern). Mr. Abhisek Lama from BuddhaJyoti School and Ms. Dipika Rai from Nagarjun Academy was declared best fighter from male and female category respectively. Buddhajyoti School wined team first bagging 5 Gold, 7 Silver and 3 Bronze medals. In the ending of Competition Ceremony, Mr. Laxman Basnet President Announced that 3rd Inter School ITF Taekwondo Championship will be held at Babylon National School on 2010.

2nd National Seminar Held Successfully

Taekwondo ITF Nepal Organized Second National Instructor & Referee Seminar from 15 – 16 July, 2009.
The seminar was conducted by the president of Taekwondo ITF Nepal and international Instructor and A class Referee Mr. Laxman Basnet amid 16 Participant including player and instructor.
On the first day of the Instructor seminar, Fundamental exercises, Kicking, Pattern etc. were focused to be a skilled instructor of ITF Taekwondo where as, on the second day, the theoretical and technical sides of ITF were focused to become a skilful referee based on international rules.
Mr. Uddhav Shahi, National Instructor assisted Mr.Laxman Basnet during the seminar. President of Taekwondo ITF Nepal, Mr. Laxman Basnet and vice president Mr. Bigyan Aryal distributed certificates to the participants.
Meanwhile the joint program of Taekwondo ITF Nepal and Buddha Jyoti Boarding School The Second Inter School ITF Taekwondo Competition , scheduled for 17 July was postponed due to technical reason. The competition will be held on 24 th July 2009. >> Top | Photogallery
Training in Nepal to impart ITF training in Bangladesh

Founding president and chief instructor of Taekwondo ITF Bangladesh , MD. Muktar Hussain has completed two months intensive training so as to conduct ITF Taekwondo in Bangladesh under the supervision of Taekwondo ITF Nepal. Prior to the establishment of ITF Taekwondo in Bangladesh , he was 2nd Degree Black Belt & president of Shylet TKD Association. Now he is preparing to attain third degree black belt.
He has been in Kathmandu for intensive training to conduct ITF Taekwondo lead by Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa, son of founder of Taekwondo Gen. Choi Hong Hi. He was trained by international instructor and president of Taekwondo ITF Nepal Mr. Laxman Basnet.
In Bangladesh MD Hussain has 10 Branches of Taekwondo Association and more than 300 trainees are associated with his association. Going through the internet founder of TKD General Choi initiated the real art and after his demise his son Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa gave continuation. ITF TKD Nepal headed by Grand Master Choi, is a senior association in south Asia . Influenced by Mr. Basnet's technical knowledge on ITF Taekwondo, “I have acquired training and will initiate ITF TKD in Bangladesh ,” he said.
After completing a month long training with Mr. Laxman Basnet, MD Hussain instantly aims to set up More than 10 ITF Taekwondo branches in Bangladesh . He says " Nepal is far ahead in TKD in comparison to Bangladesh , professional players have a brighter future in Bangladesh ".
He plans to carry out seminar, training camp, friendship competition in near future. "It fosters friendship between two countries and ITF Taekwondo will develop in both the countries" opines international instructor Mr. Basent, he further says that imparting training to a foreign player and handing him the responsibility of instructor is not only his pride but of nation's too.

Great Condolence to Mr. Sapkota

All of us here at ITF Nepal are deeply saddened and shell shocked at the sudden demise of our legal advisor, Mr. Yogananda Sapkota, aged 35, on 30 May 2009.
The ill-fated motorcycle accident not just took away Mr. Sapkota's life but also took away a great friend, extraordinary professional and a kina human being from us. Mr. Sapkota was a full time employee at The Reliance Firm and a legal advisor to Nepal Airlines as well. Mr. Sapkota is survived by a one Son, one Daughter, and his wife. Our prayers and thoughts to the entire Sapkota Family. May God give them strength to get though this tough loss. May Mr. Sapokta rest his soul in peace.
